Ultimate Camp Cooking spices up 58th annual Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show
By Josh Lantz
The beans are bubbling and you’ve placed the last tube steak on the iron grate atop your campfire. You’re feeling good about your campsite and the meal you are about to feed your family.
Then it happens.
An aroma akin to the Big Easy’s French Quarter at suppertime wafts in from the next campsite over, bullying both your meager menu and your ego. “What are THEY eating?” your family asks. Unfortunately, the question is moot because YOUR crew is eating… well… something else.
Camping is one of America’s most beloved pass-times, but with the quality and variety of camping products available today, “roughing it” is certainly isn’t what it used to be. So if today’s campers can sleep on elevated cots in tents with LED lighting and RVs with digital TV, there is no reason we should limit our outdoor cuisine to beans and weenies. Right?
Comedians Mike Faverman and Pat Mac certainly think so. As a matter of fact, this Ultimate Camp Cooking duo proves it each year by spending the summer months venturing into campgrounds around North America and preparing gourmet outdoor meals for total strangers. No kidding. For Mac and “The Big Cheese” Faverman, you see, good food, laughter, friends and the memories they make when combined are the key ingredients to a happy life.
While you and your family may never enjoy the good fortune of sharing a campground with the Ultimate Camp Cooking dudes, you can meet the pair, taste their wonderful creations and pick up a recipe or two for your next outdoor adventure when Ultimate Camp Cooking comes to this year’s Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show, February 17-26 at Indy’s Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Ultimate Camp Cooking puts great food and light-hearted humor together in a highly entertaining format. In addition to creative recipes, insights on gear and equipment, and tips for deliciously artful yet simple cuisine, Faverman and Mac stuff audience members full with solid comedic banter and a healthy dose of audience participation.
Ultimate Camp Cooking will appear all ten days of this year’s Ford Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show, and feature outdoor cooking recipes, tips and techniques as much at home at the campground as they will be on your own backyard barbeque. So leave the weenies at home and come check them out. You and your family will be glad you did.
