Known as “The General” among his peers, Larry Nixon is considered to be a legend in the sport of Bass fishing, and one of the greatest worm fishermen of all time.
Nixon is competing in his 15th season of FLW Tour competition. He has qualified for 13 Forrest Wood Cups and had a career-high finish (3rd) in 2010. Nixon racked up three Tour wins and 13 top-10 finishes. He finished in the top 25 of the FLW Tour Angler of the Year standings nine of his 15 years on Tour, with a career-high third-place finish in 1999.
Nixon’s favorite technique is fishing a worm. His favorite body of water is Toledo Bend. When he’s not fishing, Nixon can be found deer hunting. Nixon started tournament fishing in 1977 and took 19th place in his first tournament and won $600. Nixon said he won a fully rigged bass Ranger boat in his first major bass tournament in 1978 and has won about 10 additional boats since then.
